Course Description: What Is This Class About?

Video production is s a marking period course that teaches the basic features and functionality of Adobe Premier and Adobe Aftereffects. It focuses on the creation of video files that include edited footage and special effects.

Rationale: Why is it Important To Learn This?

Videos are becoming increasing popular in many different design fields, including the creation of presentation materials. The tools and techniques provided in this class are standardized in the industry, so the skills learned here can be applied to a variety of video editing programs. Additionally, computer based design is an excellent way for students to express themselves, especially if they lack traditional art skills.

Course Goals:What Are We Going To Do In This Class?

During the marking period we will be creating finished video pieces via raw footage provided to the class. In addition, we will be learning various editing techniques, focusing on how to create video cuts and transitions. For the effect portion of the class, we will be focusing on the effects and layering techniques offered by Adobe Aftereffects.

How to create basic animations.

Grading:
Students will complete several lessons, each of which will be individually graded based on the lesson rubric. Grading criteria is listed on the rubric itself. This process will allow students to assess their own work, and continue to refine it until they feel it meets the standards described in the rubric.
