Center School Celebrates 45 Years

We were honored to celebrate our 45 years of service to the special needs community with Freeholder Peter Palmer, Freeholder Brian Levine, Center School Board of Trustees members, Foundation members, special guests, students and staff.  The event was topped off with a special demonstration by our robotics’ team and our very own mannequin challenge.

Center School PTO Grants Fish Wishes to Staff

fishwishThe PTO parents came up with a clever way to support the classrooms by offering “Wish Fish”, where the teachers write their wishes on a fish and the parents who want to participate grant the wishes. A huge fishbowl to house the fish was displayed at the Family Pasta & Bingo Night, for all of the parents to see. Throughout the remainder of the year, it will be on display in the waiting room.
Wishes can be small like a box of super soft tissues or ziploc bags, or something big like a printer or a digital camera. You never know who has something collecting dust in their basement or attic, or who has connections through their job to make wishes come true.
Be sure to check it out!  You might even be able to take a fish and grant a wish!

Something is Fishy at Center School

Students created their own unique fish to hang in “our aquarium”, embracing this year’s theme of ‘We May All be Different Fish, But in This School We Swim Together.  The additional theme incorporated for this marking period was ‘Acceptance’.DifferentFish

Taste It Tuesday

TasteItTuesdayGetting children to try new food items is never an easy task.  The Center School has ‘Taste It Tuesday’, where something new is introduced during their lunch period, on Tuesdays.  Students are encouraged to take a sample and ‘taste it’.  You never know if you like it, until you try it!

Grandparents Day

The Center School hosts its Grandparents Day in November.  This day and its activities are shared with many special grandparents who are able to join their grandchildren for the afternoon.  The students always enjoy sharing their grandparents (and their stories) with their classmates and teachers.

Halloween Fun Day!

Halloween Fun Day is a much anticipated tradition at The Center School.  Students enjoy a visit to Norz Hill Farm where they visit the animals and find their way through the corn maze.  After their fun-filled trip to the farm, they return to the school for pumpkin decorating and Halloween activities, all while dressed in their favorite costumes.HalloweenFunDay
