Successful Career Day at Center School

The Center School hosted over a dozen individuals who are currently working and doing what they love. They shared information about their jobs and careers with our 8th Graders, High School, and Transition Students.

Some of the questions that were asked of each of them were….
What education and or experience did you need to succeed at your occupation?
What are some of the things that you do on a normal day – what is the best part of your job?
Did you do any other jobs before entering your current career?
What advice do you have for someone looking to enter your field?

Work Readiness Transition Program – FRONT and CENTER

FRONT and CENTER, the retail store used as part of our work readiness transition Work Readiness Transition Program – FRONT and CENTERprogram for 18-21 year olds, opened Sunday, September 30, 2012 during the Highland Park Arts Festival.  While selling many items in the store, we also had the opportunity to let the Highland Park community learn about our program.  Many people who stopped by were impressed with our store and the goals for the program.  We even had a few inquiries from local parents on how to get their children
into the program!!  The students in the program worked hard to clean the store and organize the merchandise before we opened.  They learned valuable work skills and lessons and are now spending time in other businesses in the Highland Park community.
Come visit us and check out our “gifts and thrifts!”
